Supporting services
It is likely, that with my 40 years of experience, I'm able to help you, as:
Troubleshooting
Having issues with your system, RF interferences, bad voice quality, loss of communication, unable to obtain a PTT? Let me help you to find out, which part of your system is causing the issue(s): RF, backbone, control room system, etc.
The analysis can be done in our office and if needed on site together with the customer. The "RF spectrum" chart shows the 5 MHz RX spectrum assigned in CH, translated to channel numbers instead of showing the signal strengths of the different frequencies.
Would you prefer to make the measurements yourself? Many brands or models of spectrum analyzers used by the technical teams can be controlled by a PC over USB or ethernet, as: Anritsu, Fieldfox, R&S. Furthermore, continuous measuring is possible over a longer period of time, with the possibility to access the data remotely .
Consulting
Are you planning to make changes to your current system? An analysis of the current state is highly recommended, such as: Analyzing the system behavior (cell changes, any RF or interference levels, etc.) bevor and after can give a clear indication, that the changes were successful.
Are you looking for advices around POLYCOM? I might be of help, drafting specifications or giving any advices.
Configuration and Change management
Do you know exactly how your POLYCOM / Tetrapol system is configured, which user group can use which resources? All the information are available! Provide me with a backup and I will provide you with:
- How all base stations are defined
- Information for all coverages with details
- Tactical or short "personalization" infos
- and much more.
With 2 backups from the same RN: I can also provide a list with all changes, even across major system upgrades as from R21 to IP31. Just let me know you needs!
Consistency Check
Good engineering rules recommend to follow the principle:
define - implement - verify
Taking a current backup, verify it, and this will define it as your reference for your RN.With any new backup, each change will be shown and you can "accept" each change individually or all at once. The accepted position(s) are now being used as the current definition.
The possibilities are unlimited, let's talk about your needs!
Workshops
Different workshops have been prepared around POLYCOM / Tetrapol.
WS OBS data
Maintaining a system means also to know a system better! Knowing, if there is a degradation or overload helps to take actions before it becomes critical! Degradations and overloads do not raise alarms, but it's a must, that at least on a period base, internal logs and performance data are analyzed. In Tetrapol, data for over 200 indicators are collected every 30 minutes.
This WS goes into the details for each of the 14 categories with useful examples.
WS MBS
An MBS base station is highly complicated, also in comparison to TDM. Degradations and problems can affect the whole station, how to identify the cause? This WS may be for you!
The WS is divided into different sections:
a) Basics: linear vs log scaling, impedance, physical limits (noise as a function of frequency, ...), modulation and demodulation, phase
b) Measuring equipment: spectrum vs signal analyzer, vector network analyzer, frequency counter, etc.
c) flow of speech
d) interference, how to measure. PIM as a possible cause of interference, how to verify the antenna path without opening up anything.
e) where to measure TX, RX and what is not allowed to be done
WS System limitations
There is no such thing as a perfect world; compromises are necessary, whether in frequency planning or in how 2,500 radio units communicate with the base station, particularly given the limited bandwidth.
How can one tell whether it is a problem or a limitation of the system?
The workshop focuses on group communication, PTT priority, and instances where a PTT request is ‘ignored’ by the system.
